A tennis bracelet is a single row of diamonds, each in its own small setting, linked so the line moves with your wrist. It looks easy to choose. In practice, the stone size, the links, the clasp and the fit all change how the bracelet looks and how well it lasts. Here is a short guide.
Tennis bracelets are described by total carat weight, the combined weight of every stone in the line. On a standard 7 inch bracelet:
| Total weight | Look |
|---|---|
| 2 ctw | Fine and delicate, easy to stack with a watch |
| 3 to 4 ctw | The classic size, clearly visible but still everyday |
| 5 to 7 ctw | A full, bright line that stands on its own |
| 10 ctw | Bold, with large individual stones |
Lab grown diamonds bring larger lines within reach. That is one reason a tennis bracelet is such a popular lab grown piece. Still, bigger is not always better. A line that suits your wrist will get worn more than one that feels heavy.
Turn the bracelet over and look at the links. They should move freely without gaps opening between stones, and the back should feel smooth against the skin.
A tennis bracelet is only as secure as its clasp. Look for a box clasp that closes with a firm click, backed by one or two safety catches on the side. We will show you how each one works and ask you to open and close it yourself, since you will be the one doing it every morning.
Measure your wrist snugly, then add about a half inch for a comfortable fit. Too tight and the bracelet strains the links. Too loose and it slides over your hand and knocks against things. At your viewing we will try a few lengths and adjust to your wrist.
White gold and platinum keep a bright, icy look. Yellow gold has come back strongly for tennis bracelets and gives the line a warm frame. Because the stones are small and many, matching them evenly for color and brightness is more important than chasing very high color grades.
Take it off for heavy work at the gym or in the garden, and have the prongs and clasp checked from time to time. Our guide to caring for diamond jewelry explains how to clean a bracelet at home.

It is a popular one. If you do not know the wrist size, a standard 7 inch length fits many people and can often be adjusted later. Ask us how.
Yes. Finer lines of 2 to 3 carats total sit well next to a watch. Bezel settings are less likely to scratch the watch case.
We set these aside on a tray for your viewing in Suite 805.
